The Pittsburgh Young Professionals is governed by a board of 12 volunteer members. These individuals are put through an approval process then elected by PYP membership. The board sets the budget, ensures that committees do their job (so events happen) and set the overall strategic direction for the organization. This is a leadership position with requirements that includes attendance at monthly board meetings, as well as a few hours a week to review materials, attend events and/or advise Committee Chairs. As a developing young professional, serving on a non-profit board is an integral step to establishing yourself as a community leader.
