2020 Friendsgiving Ideas

Winter is coming early to Pittsburgh with our first snowfall on November 2. All this wintry weathers gave us some inspiration to scour for some ideas on how to celebrate a low key and less stressful Friendsgiving.

According to some sources, Friendsgiving came about in 2007 and is a time that you gather with your besties right before or after Thanksgiving. As we all know, 2020 has been a bit…different. However, you can still celebrate Friendsgiving. Keep reading for 5 ways you can still celebrate Friendsgiving.

Host a Websgiving

We may all have some “Zoom Fatigue”, but this is still a great way to celebrate and there are tons of other apps to choose from. Try Google hangouts or the House Party app. You and your friends can all make your own favorite meals and share it together digitally!

Outdoor Hosting

Still want to see your friends in person and enjoy each other? Analyze your risks and have a smaller get together, but host it outdoors. Make sure you take the precautions suggested by the CDC.

Support Small Business

Grab a small bite and a few brews (or a drink of your choice) at one of Pittsburgh’s many outdoor seating areas that also can keep you toasty! This time of year, most places like the Fire Side Public House and Arsenal Cider House offer fireside settings with warm winter drinks. Explore more outdoor dining experiences!

Donate Your Time or Support

If you feel like none of the above is practical, then find a local charity to donate some time or support. You can do a quick search and come up with a myriad of possibilities. If you’re low on cash, you can even find a skill you would like to build on and donate your time to assisting a non-profit or charity.

Mix it Up!

Do a mix of the above. Go to a local place by yourself and facetime with a friend or have a small get together at several places and connect via video call to connect.

We at PYP wish you a happy and healthy Friendsgiving!
