Comedy & Cocktails will celebrate PYP scholarship winner

Pittsburgh Improv opens doors to Pittsburgh Young Professionals as they announce winner of 2019 scholarship.

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Young Professionals (PYP) will announce the winner of $1,000 Pittsburgh Young Professionals Scholarship Wednesday, Nov 7 from 5:30 -8:30 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Improv in Homestead.

The Pittsburgh Young Professionals Scholarship of the Pittsburgh Foundation was created to provide career-minded members of PYP the opportunity to develop professionally, civically and socially within the Pittsburgh region. Applicants must attend a four-year college or university as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

The 2019 recipient is a Virginia Tech alumnus whose passion for sustainability and advancements in technology attracted the winner to continue education at Carnegie Mellon to purse a Master of Information Systems. Volunteering more than 500 hours speaking to young students interested in STEM, the winner worked as a member of the ground crew for Solar Impulse 2: the world’s first solar powered airplane to circumnavigate the globe. 

New for the 2020 scholarship, the Pittsburgh Young Professionals Scholarship of the Pittsburgh Foundation will increase from $1,000 to $2,500. Applications for 2020 scholarship will open in the spring. For details visit: pyp.org/scholarship  

PYP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing career-minded individuals with networking opportunities to develop socially, professionally and civically. Membership is an affordable $70 annually and includes access to 625+ young professionals and 45 events. Eligible members also have the opportunity to apply for the annual scholarship. The only requirement to join or attend an event is that individuals must be 21 years or older. pyp.org
