COVID-19 Concerns and Actions
We continue to closely monitor and respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Our commitment is to act in the best interest of Pittsburgh Young Professionals’ members, sponsors, and guests.
In light of that commitment and recent developments, we believe additional precautionary measures are warranted to help mitigate risks at our events.
First, we are asking all members and guests who have recently traveled to areas where positive cases have been confirmed or those who have any fever or flu-like symptoms to please stay home in order to properly recuperate. If you decide to attend the event, please ensure your hands are washed prior to entering. Although our events are professional and shaking of hands and the exchanging of business cards is customary, we ask that attendees please refrain from these actions or other unnecessary physical contact.
Second, our events have not been officially canceled as of this posting. If Pittsburgh Young Professionals chooses to cancel an event for the sake of the health and wellness of our members, all attendees will be notified within 24-48 hours of the event and refunds will be provided automatically. If the event is hosted as scheduled, refunds will not be provided to attendees. Please be sure to check your email for any upcoming event changes.
Finally, we encourage every member to continue thinking through your own personal risks and preparation. If you have any questions or concerns, please know we are here to help. Although no cases have been reported for Allegheny county, feel free to visit the CDC website for more information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/protect/index.html
Thank you for your continued membership, friendship, and professionalism in this important matter. I also hope we can be sensitive to each other’s burdens in this situation and make accommodations when we can. I count on every member of our community to make sure that discrimination, shunning and bullying that sometimes accompany an outbreak never occur at a PYP event or in our community.
In this uncertain moment, I have every confidence in our community’s ability to pull together with kindness, care and concern for the common good.
Sincere regards,
Jacquie Foradori
