We at PYP have dedicated 2020 to be more inclusive. During this time of year, we want to take the time to wish all of you a happy holiday season and take some time to honor other holidays around the world during this time.

Diwali
Mid-October – Mid-November
Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs

Krampusnacht
December 5
Celebrated in alpine countries during the The Feast of St. Nicholas (on the same day), this is a time when the antagonist of St. Nicholas appears to terrorize the naughty children.

Bodhi Day
December 8
This is a Buddhist holiday, which celebrates the day that Buddha experienced enlightenment.

Yule
December 19 – 23
A pagan and Wiccan holiday that celebrates the coming of the winter solstice.

HumanLight
December 23
A holiday first celebrated in 2001, this holiday was created to provide a specifically Humanist celebration during the western world’s holiday season.

Pancha Ganapati
December 21 – 25
A modern 5 day Hindu festival in honor of Lord Ganesha, Patron of Arts and Guardian of Culture.

Christmas
December 25
An annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, this began as a Christian holiday that is now celebrated worldwide and in secular and non-secular homes.

Hanukkah
November – January
Also known as the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah is a Jewish festival commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire.

Kwanzaa
December 26 – January 1
Created in 1966, this secular is an annual celebration of African-American culture.
